I love the Renegade...and the version I tie is actually one that I learned from a salty old Angler back in Utah that had years of success with it on the Green, Provo, Weber, Ogden, as well in Yellowstone (both rivers and lakes).

He calls it the Green Meanie...but essentially, it's a modified Renegade, which can be used as a dry AND is also extremely effective as a wet (which is how I fish them).R.K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17574626634233048298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3795670789007053810.post-69640713033251888072010-04-22T21:11:52.321-06:002010-04-22T21:11:52.321-06:00your next one should be for the renegade. im diein...your next one should be for the renegade. im dieing to know how to tie that fly before dry fly season really picks up!KVeMANhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00786357141345032118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3795670789007053810.post-55594568416700581332010-01-20T11:05:05.380-07:002010-01-20T11:05:05.380-07:00Copper wire manufacturer.... I recall you telling me about that last summer on the Taylor - and I'll be darned if it didn't slip my mind. Until now. I like it, and will go that route, here on out (love getting solid tips like this!). Thanks!

I do have some of the synthetic peacock in my bag...and depending on my mood, will use it from time to time. You're right, the stuff is durable, and it's easy to work with.R.K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17574626634233048298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3795670789007053810.post-70048858385006760032010-01-20T06:25:20.199-07:002010-01-20T06:25:20.199-07:00Ahhh the PT! Tie is in tip first, make two wraps, then one or two wraps of dubbing to bury your thread and keep the soft hackle angled backward.

Jay (my brother) and I fell in love with soft hackles, swinging them on Penn's creek in PA and have decided to tie them on just about every larger nymph since about 1996.

Also, I'm a super big fan of synthetic peacock dubbing. Adds tons of durability to the fly.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10152540275123479340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3795670789007053810.post-49494584440708368562010-01-20T04:03:15.663-07:002010-01-20T04:03:15.663-07:00hi,Colorado Angler,
